fast, quick and in a hurry

most of the time i like it slow and drawn out. but some times i need it in a hurry. i need it fast and with no thought. (i am talking about food here, this is a food blog after all). in the past two days i have put my body through rigorous sport and as a result have been ravenous today (food blog, people. stay with me).

so today was something as fast as i could get without scooping and eating peanut butter straight out of the jar. (which i have done in the past, i won’t pretend i’ve never). being at the point of super hungry i also didn’t have quite the brain capacity to think through the meal. so, i pulled out the wok (good ole’ trusty friend that gets pushed aside all too often) and made a stir fry.

there really wasn’t any rhyme or reason to what went in the wok. it was an open fridge, grab and chop kind of a night. the grabber (me) grabbed tempeh, onion, broccoli, water chestnuts, baby corn, green bell pepper and coconut milk that serendipitously happened to be sitting on the counter.

in went the oil.
in went the chopped onion.
tempeh. oh.
out went the onion and tempeh. in went the chopped broccoli & green peppers with a little bit of water to steam. ooh.
in went the water chestnuts and corn.
in went the onion and the tempeh.
in with the coconut milk and curry powder.
hot, steamy, creamy.
done.

short and sweet,
faith

Yeah this will be dinner for the family tonight. I have a hard time finding tempeh in Bee Caves. Hopefully with the new Whole Foods coming soon I will not have as hard a time. 🙂 Keep up the great work Faith!

  2. This is one of my favorite ways of cooking…no premeditation…just open the fridge and do it. Those meals always taste so great!
